Akram Khan, Peeping Tom and Jin Xing are just a few names of the artists performing for the 7th edition of Equilibrio – the New Dance festival, one the most important contemporary dance happenings, running for the whole month of february in Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica.
First held in 2005, Equilibrio gathers the best and most creative new dance troupes for four weeks of creative madness. Established and emerging artists from the four corners of the globe will perform a number of premieres and some of the very latest productions. A display of grace and poetry, a sumptuous event that explores the progress of world dance, theatre and other circus shows.
The extraordinary Anglo-indian choreographer and dancer Akram Khan will present Vertical Road, the refined Belgian group, Peeping Tom, comes back to the Auditorium with its new production 32 rue Vandenbranden, the Les Ballets C de la B company will present the show Lisi Estaras, and Jin Xing, major figure of the new Oriental dance, will take Shanghai Beauty to the stage.
The Festival will open on February 1 and 2 with the Play show by the choreographer and dancer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, who is also the artistic director of the event, accompanied by the Indian dancer Shantala Shivalingappa.
