Being an Irish pub doesn’t necessarily imply a proper celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Let’s see who actually organized something special in Rome for this event.
While most people will be celebrating Italy’s 150th anniversary, on March 16 there will be a couple of places in Rome where St. Patrick’s is going to be centre stage. One is the Initclub, in Via della Stazione Tuscolana, 133. On Wednesday night they will host a Ginger Night St. Patrick’s Day edition presented by Push Pop! Generation. Behind the decks Redhead Connection. Irish Folk music, green dress code and gifts for red-haired people!
The second is the Highlander pub, with its St. Patrick’s Eve concert by the Shire, an Italian band that plays only traditional Irish music. Jigs, reel, polkas, hornpipes, airs and songs from 9pm.
Most of the events will be on the 17th. The Highlander will presumably start first on Thursday with a pub marathon from midday. The centrally located Nag’s Head Pub will feature the Soulmitments, with their mix of Irish and soul music from the Commitments movie soundtrack. Booking required for tables.
The Fiddler’s Elbow, the first Irish owned and run pub in Italy (1976) will host the Trio binario who will perform a live concert. Stickers with clover leaf will be handed to clients and the whole pub will be green for the night.
And a live concert will also be held at the nearby Druid’s Den sister-pub.
The Arci Arcobaleno Club of Via Giacinto Pullino, 1 has prepared a movie and live music night. At 8:30 a harp & flute session followed by the movie the Commitments. After the film the Down the Road band will perform live Irish music.
