It’s a school, a contest, a show and entertainment. It’s Yo!, the Urban Dance Fest, at its second edition running from March 18 to March 20 in Ciampino, near Rome.
Hip Hop, House Dance, Raggamuffin, Jazz-Rock, Poppin’ and Lockin’ will all be on stage for this 3-day event featuring shows, workshops (including an intensive one for kids), competitions for groups and battles (such as the 2vs2 B-Boy’s).
The Festival will star as judges, performers or teachers worldwide artists such as Mr. Wiggles from New York, the Hip Hop pioneer and member of the Rock Steady Crew and of the Electric Boogaloos, the two breakdance and Funk Styles leading bands, House Dance pioneer and choreographer Brian Green, also from New York, the French Joseph Go, a major figure in creating hip hop/new style gestures, Junior, founder of the Boogie Lockers band and European leader of Poppin’ and Lockin’ dances, and Dominique Lesdema, Jazz-Rock pioneer.
Other major guests include the young Martha Nabwire, from Sweden, the hip hop dancer who won the 2010 Juste Debout award, Gracy of the Fusion Rockers crew from Spain, and the Belgian Hurricane Ray of the Shmetta Team.
The contest participants will try their best to impress the judges in three-minute performances the €10,000 prize. The most talented dancers will be awarded scholarships and those in the videodance section will have the chance to perfom in a music videoclip.
The Festival is held in Ciampino near Rome, at PalaCavicchi. This facility of over 20,000 square meters, is located at 130, Via Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli, Ciampino. From Termini station you can get on any train for Frascati, Albano, Velletri or Cassino and get off at Ciampino. Once at Ciampino’s railway station, you can reach PalaCavicchi by taxi or by bus (Cotral). Otherwise, from the underground Line A’s terminus of Anagnina you can jump on the Ciampino Airport-bound Cotral bus and get off in front of Palacavicchi.
