Tomorrow at 10 am the first horse will step on the special sand surface of Villa Borghese, Rome’s biggest donwtown park and open-air museum for Piazza di Siena, the international show jumping event at its 79th edition.
80 riders from 14 nations of four continents will vie for the championship of the second stage of the FEI Nations Cup Top League. France could win the third title in row this year, matching Germany‘s achievements in 2006-8. But Italy holds the record for most wins at the Piazza di Siena fixture.
The historical oval of Villa Borghese is considered one of the most charming show-horse locations in the world. Therefore, not only for the quality of the race, but also for historical reasons, this event has become an appointment not to miss.
Attendance by Eric Lamaze and Hickstead, the partnership that claimed individual gold at the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong; Kevin Staut and Kraque Boom, winners of the individual European title at Windsor in 2009; Philippe Le Jeune and Vigo d’Arsouilles, crowned World Champions at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington represents an all-time record for the Roman fixture, and confirms the great appeal of this competition for the world’s best riders. And the star-studded line-up doesn’t end there…..
Great sport, great stars and great entertainment are guaranteed at Piazza di Siena, so let the show begin!
