A five kilometre ‘fun run’ (or walk) or the ten-kilometer competitive race through the historic centre of Rome. The 6th Edition of the Run for Food race will start and end at the Stadium Terme di Caracalla, just outside FAO headquarters, in via delle Terme di Caracalla on Sunday October 16 at 10am.
Organized by the Athletic Association Bancari Romani (GSBR) in partnership with Food and Agriculture of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Food Programme (WFP) and Bioversity International, the race will take place in the framework of the World Food Day.
This year the theme is “Food Prices”, which was chosen to highlight that price swings, upswings in particular, represent a major threat to food security in developing countries. The main goal of the race is raising the awareness that the hardest-hit are the poor, with rising food costs pushing nearly 70 million people into extreme poverty in 2010-2011.
The registration/inscription fee of 10€ will be donated to the “Horn of Africa” TeleFood initiative of FAO that helps small farmers to improve production and productivity and to increase their income.
See you there!
