Jazz in Rome: Metheny, Bridgewater, Stern & Bojan Z To Please Your Ears in November!

November may be a dark and rainy month but in Rome it features two big jazz events that will fire you up!

The major one from November 8 to the 30th is the Rome Jazz Festival, the other is the Franco Jazz Festival organized by the French Culture Institute in Rome from the 7th to November 18.

Let’s begin with the latter because tomorrow at 9pm it will host a great French piano player, Bojan Z with a very peculiar and modern style and some balcanic folk music influences.

The 35th edition of the Rome Jazz Festival will host many International and Italian stars at Rome’s Auditorium. We picked five concerts for you that we consider the very best of this event.

Starting with Pat Metheny, maybe the best guitarist ever, who will perform on November 13 at 9pm.

Dee Dee Bridgewater is one of the most famous jazz female singers. She will play some of Billie Holiday’s best songs on November 17.

Mike Stern, another guitarist, played with Miles Davis, and will propose to the Rome scene his band. Jazz fusion with strong rock influence. November 10.

Danilo Rea and Flavio Boltro are the Italians we suggest you to pay particular attention to. Excellent piano and trumpet players. On the 15th.

Finally, an emerging talent from the US. Colin Vallon is a young pianist and will please you on November 13 with his trio and their cool, melodic jazz.

You will not want to miss an interesting art exhibt to celebrate the jazz Festival. It is about contemporay Italian artists who were strongly affected by this genre of music: from the Italian pop art icon Mimmo Rotella to Piero Dorazio and his beautiful colors, to the genius and the fantasy of Pablo Echaurren, author of the painting in the picture.
