On Saturday night Rome will be turned into a huge stage for live music for the third edition of Musei in Musica (Museums in Music). After last years’ massive participation, on November 19 tens of thousands of Romans and travelers alike are expected to show up.

From 8pm to 1am (last admission at midnight), about 60 events will animate the night of more than 20 cultural sites in Rome: museums and exhibition halls, universities, academies and international institutions, places of worship and other places of cultural interest will be open and completely free of charge.

Italian, Greek, Estonian and Norwegian folk musicians will perform at Casa dell’Architettura. Folk vibes will also resonate at the Romanian Academy for a double concert by Christiana Uikiza and Marcus Gaudriot. The sculpture Museum Barracco will host a typical Neapolitan song concert, with voice and guitar.

Latin American tunes, flamenco and gypsy rumba will be played at the Spanish culture Institute Cervantes of Piazza Navona. While Argentinean music will delight the crowd at Sala della Protomoteca on top of the Campidoglio.

Solar Lodge’s electronic music will enchant you at the newly opened Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Roma Capitale, while Mira Calix, from the UK, also an electronic artist, will perform at MACRO.

There will be many jazz concerts on the 19th. At Ara Pacis, with the key Italian Sax player Maurizio Giammarco. In Museo delle Terme di Diocleziano there will be the Rome Sapienza University Jazz Orchestra on stage! Cole Porter’s sound will fire up the breath-taking Centrale Montemartini. While the Palazzo Barberini National Ancient Art Gallery will feature a New Orleans’ jazz concert. A very original concert will take place at Museo di Roma in Trastevere by the multi-instrument jazz player Marco Colonna.

Audrey Hepburn will be the star of the ballet Breakfast at Tiffany’s at Ara Pacis and at the Casa del Cinema where the movie My Fair Lady will be screened in original language with Italian subtitles.

For classical music lovers there are two appointments: the harpsichord concert at Casanatense Library and the Ensemble Keplero chamber music performance at the Napoleonic Museum.

These are just a few ideas we found inspiring. But this is the complete program of the locations and music performances.
