Music has always been the main driver of Rome’s summer nights. And the month of July features the great majority of the top summer performances. All of them will be outdoor. Summer 2013 offers a very wide and interesting range of live concerts to pick from. Here is a selection which is not meant to be a comprehensive list, because it would be way too long! Let’s start from the pop and rock stars, the big names, the international icons. But bear in mind that Rome’s music summer will also feature remarkable jazz, classical music and opera performances (see our Caracalla Baths season post here).
Iggy Pop and the Stooges will be in Rome for Rock in Roma on July 4.
Bruce Springsteen and the E street Band will perform in the Rome Capannelle race track on July 11.
Mark Knopfler and band to please the Rock in Roma crowds on July 13.
Crosby Stills & Nash. The most legendary trio of rock will perform in Rome’s Music Auditorium on July 19.
Deep Purple will also play in Capannelle. On July 22.
Roger Waters and his wall tour wil be in Rome’s Olympic stadium on July 28.
Muse will play in Rome’s biggest venue, the Olympic stadium, on July 6
Sting and his Back to Bass tour will be in Rome’s Foro Italico on July 9.
Morcheeba will be on stage at Centrale Live Foro Italico with their latest single and greatets hits on July 12.
Depeche Mode will be in Rome during their world tour. On July 20
Blur in concert in Capannelle on July 29.
Leonard Cohen and his greatest hits at Centrale Live Foro Italico on July 7.
Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club. This traditional appointment of the Roman music summer will occur as usual in Rome’s Music Auditorium. July 18
Inti Illimani celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Chilean coup that toppled the democratic government led by Allende with a concert in Villa Ada on July 26.
Carlos Santana will be in Rome’s Foro Italico during his 2013 world tour “The Sentient Tour” on July 27.
Sigur Ros will be at Rock in Roma on July 28.
