The first summer month here in Rome also marks the start of a long outdoor music season. On June 2 Tori Amos presents her new album Unrepentant Geraldines at the Rome Music Auditorium.
On June 18, one of the world’s top guitarist, Pat Metheny and his Unity Group will present their latest album at the Rome Auditorium.
Free concerts, again at the Rome Music Auditorium, on June 8 for this institution’s birthday.
Villa Medici, the French Arts Academy in Rome, will host lots of pop, electro and rock concerts for four days. Villa Aperta runs from June 18 to the 21.
The European Music Feast will offer 200 free concerts all over the city. June 20-22. Program to follow soon.
For classical music fans, the Rome Chamber Music Fest kicks off on the 8th. Runs through June 12.
An open air happening of classical music, opera and ballet is the Terme di Carcalla Festival, this year from June 24.
If music is queen in June, sport also offers interesting events. The most traditional appointment is the track and field Diamond League Meeting Golden Gala at the Olympic Stadium with many international stars. June 5.
The Volleyball World League will be in Rome on the 8th for a game between Italy Men’s national team, who is doing very well so far, and Poland’s.
ANNIVERSARIES & CELEBRATIONS
Free military parade on the 2nd to celebrate the Italian Republic. In the Colosseum area, early morning. For more details read our story. For the occasion the Senate’s historical buildings will be open to the public. Free visit and guided tour from 10am to 6pm.
A really special event that you shouldn’t miss for any reason if you are in Rome on June 8 is the rose shower at the Pantheon to celebrate Pentecost. Free admission.
Rome celebrates the 70th anniversary of its liberation from Nazis with a free photography exhibition at Vittoriano. You’ll see Rome as you could never imagine. From June 5.
The Cereals and Mediterranean culture Festival Cerealia will unfold from June 6 to the 9th. Special guest this year is the country of Cyprus, one of the largest Mediterranean islands.
VeginRome is the city’s top Vegan event. From June 13 to the 15th.
Swing and Boogie fever will go high in Rome on June 6-8 for the Lindy Exchange.
LungoilTevere, the night event along the Tiber’s shores will start on June 12. Shops, restaurants, lounge bars, dancing and much more every night thorough August 31.
OUT OF ROME
The Villa Adriana Festival in Tivoli kicks off on the 18th. Music, opera, ballet and much more on the backdrop of this UNESCO World heritage site. Post to follow soon….
South of Rome, Genzano hosts the region’s most famous Infiorata. Flower floating carpets will cover the town’s roads and squares on June 21-23.
