It is hard to choose from the very wide array of Christmas events and performances here in Rome. There are countless of them, really. We tried to come down to a reasonable selection that takes into account quality and variety for your Christmas holidays in the Eternal City.
The very first event we can report about is a Christmas concert that unfolds today, really, in a few hours. It’s in the heart of the city centre and it will be performed by the Latin American Choir of Rome at 8:30pm.
The most traditional Christmas Concert here (this is the 22nd edition) takes place on the 13th and it will host many Italian and International artists such as Patti Smith and Imany. At the Conciliazione Auditorium, near the Vatican.
Double choice next Sunday. The “Wating for Christmas” concert at the SS. XII Apostoli church, right behind Venezia square. At 6:30pm.
The Choir of Rome’s Diocesis will play the same evening in S. John Lateran, the original seat of the Catholic Church. 8:30pm.
A charity Christmas concert, with season’s vibes from all over the world, unfolds on the 20th in the San Gregorio VII church, behind the Vatican. At 6pm. Funds are for long-distance adoptions.
Double choice on Christmas and Boxing Days, too. The Strauss Festival Orchestra and the Strauss Festival Ballet Ensemble will be on stage in the Conciliazione Auditorium. At 6pm.
The Tempietto Concerts present a double performance on the 25th and Boxing Day. In downtown Rome.
Giovanni Allevi and the Italian Symphonic Orchestra will perform in Rome’s Auditorium on the 26th. At 6pm.
The Gospel Christmas season starts on the 16th and runs through January 3. The 7 Hills Gospel Choir will perform on the 16th for a benefit concert at 6pm in downtown Rome.
The main Gospel event is the Festival at the Music Auditorium which starts on December 21 and finishes with a concert on New Year’s Eve. Top Bands from all over the US. The Festival actually kicks off on December 17 with the Mastercard Priceless Cities Concert at the Rome Music Auditorium. Upon invitation only.
The Chicago High Spirit will liven up the start of the year with their performance on January 3 in the San Genesio theatre, near the Lepanto underground stop – line A.
The Russian classical dance crew Classique will perform in Rome both Swan Lake and the Nutcracker on December 10-14 at the Olimpico Theatre.
The Nutcracker will again be on stage in Rome’s Opera Theatre from the 18th.
The bilingual show for kids Magic Songs will be hosted by the Extrateatro Theatre on December 13, 20, 27 and January 3 and 6.
The innovative circus crew El Grito will please the crowds starting from December 6 at the Music Auditorium.
The Burlesque Temptations Christmas Edition is on December 13 from 10:30pm at L’Archivio 14.
Chiarastella, the traditional Italian Christmas songs concert, will take place on January 5 and 6 in Rome’s Music Auditorium.
